Summer Book Club at Books and Beans!
In this first edition of the Books and Beans Summer Book club we are going to discuss a non-fiction book: Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer.
As an Indigenous woman and Scientist, Robin Wall Kimmerer explores how other beings live and the interactions within and between. in a beautiful prose, she tells us how earth is always offering us gifts and lessons, even if we have forgotten how to hear their voices. The central argument of the book is “that the awakening of a wider ecological consciousness requires the acknowledgment and celebration of our reciprocal relationship with the rest of the living world. For only when we can hear the languages of other beings will we be capable of understanding the generosity of the earth, and learn to give our own gifts in return.”
